Initiated by the Boards of the six Central Region DHBs, the July 2008 draft of the Regional Clinical Services Plan (RCSP) has been released. The RCSP is a plan for the delivery of secondary and tertiary (hospital) health services in the Central Region (lower North Island) over the next 10 to 15 years. CHANGES FROM THE EARLIER DRAFT Based on feedback received from the combined Boards and other stakeholders changes have been made. The main changes are: - the end point of two 'hubs' has been replaced by more emphasis on a collaborative model and clinical networks - specialist teams working together across current boundaries and in the community
- a three centre network forms the backbone or tahuhu of the region's hospital services to support the smaller hospitals
- more clarity about the proposed decision making structure and how this fits with local DHB decision-making and the autonomy of Boards.

An implementation plan will follow which will include details about further engagement and consultation. To see the plan and participate in the discussion forumSelect the menus on the left.
